How to Eat Dragon Fruit

Dragon FruitWhat Is Dragon Fruit?

Never seen one before? No clue what to do with it? Have no fear. The Reformed Couch Potato is here… with pictures…to tell you how to eat a dragon fruit.

A dragon fruit is mildly sweet and quite tasty, but compared to the crazy vibe it gives off, it’s totally tame. The taste reminds me of kiwi, but without the tartness.

Preparing Dragon Fruit

how to eat dragon fruitChoose your dragon fruit by look and feel. They should look like the picture above–not too spotted or brown–and they should squeeze like a ripe mango or avocado if you want one thats ready-to-eat.

Slice them lengthwise and scoop out the entire insides (as you would an avocado). Then be sure to cut away any pink skin from your fleshy innards to discard; the skin should NOT be eaten. Cut your fruit into chunks and then serve the bites in the dragon fruit skin for a beautiful and exotic treat!
